The new trailer for Halo’s Live action “Forever we Fight” by Paramount Plus recently released and was met with both praise and criticism. Spartan designs are visually accurate while including some easter eggs like the icon for Master Chief’s blue team. The vast majority of the community has received the trailer positively with minor criticisms. Some say Master Chief’s helmet looks rather squished or flat in comparison to the game. Others didn’t really like Cortana’s design or how she’s played by a live actress. A meme was generated comparing Cortana’s design to the original Sonic design in the Sonic film where it was changed after receiving heavy backlash from their fans. An unknown user stated the live action Cortana looked like Ted Cruz and posted a hilarious image to demonstrate. While some design choices are questionable there’s a lot to look forward to.
The series takes place in an alternate universe coined the “Silver Timeline” which means the story has no canonical affect on the Halo video game campaigns. This is similar to how Marvel approached their comics and movies stating that the movies are the Marvel “Cinematic Universe.” 343i is taking the same approach here keeping the cinematic events separate from the game while having striking similarities. The show will however be loosely based on the canonical events of the halo series. One divergence is how the halo ring from the first game was discovered by Master Chief rather than something that was stumbled upon by everyone. These are some minor changes that can be seen, but they’re pretty noticeable to long time fans.
The Halo TV series is set to release on March 24. It is developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane. The directors of the series are Otto Bathurst, and Jonathan Liebesman. It will feature Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, Jen Taylor as Cortana, and Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey.
