The Splatoon 3 DLC “Side Order” will be a paid downloadable game content for Splatoon 3 and is expected to be published by December 31, 2024. It was announced at the Nintendo Direct on August 10, 2022, and given its title during the Nintendo Direct on February 8, 2023.

Side Order DLC Plot

The Side Order DLC takes place in “what has become of” Inkopolis Square, Splatoon 2’s primary center, in a “what would’ve happened” scenario if Team Order defeated Team Chaos. An Octoling is spotted standing in the square during the trailer. The Side Order DLC clip below may also be seen on Nintendo’s official YouTube account during their February Nintendo Direct event starting at 2:16.

The February Nintendo Direct Announcement for Splatoon 3’s Expantion Pass

The Side Order teaser trailer shows a leisurely pan across a dismal, stark white version of Splatoon 2’s Inkopolis Square, centering on an unnamed Octoling figure. The Octoling has Tentacurl hair, a faded brown ink hue, and is clad in a short-sleeved white jumpsuit with matching white knee-high boots, as well as a thin, transparent brace on their left forearm. Various mysterious static pictures and short films suddenly flash on-screen throughout the trailer; the images seemingly displays the Octoling in an unusual brilliant white setting, as well as Off the Hook, while the snippets appear to portray biological structures such as cells, blood, and organs. The ground looks to be covered in a thick coating of white ink or bleached coral, with particles of what could be dried ink floating in the air. Branches of apparently decayed or bleached coral may be found all throughout the plaza. Deca Tower seems to be a typical structure with several advertisements mounted to it instead of a combat tower in its blanched-out form. The entrance to the tower is completely changed, in addition to the Great Zapfish missing from its resting place. Toward the ending of the trailer, a swarm of fish-like items “swim” around the Octoling.

Who Will Make an Appearance in Splatoon 3 Side Order?

According to what we’ve seen in the video, there are several visuals that are easy to overlook in the Splatoon 3 Side Order preview trailer. They reveal what we may anticipate from the future expansion. While some graphics are only patterns, others depict two distinct characters. Pearl and Marina, the Off the Hook Splatoon 2 idols, make an appearance. In the previous game’s final Splatfest, Pearl supported team chaos, while Marina supported team order. The two photos of the characters shown in the trailer can be seen below.

As a big fan of team Order I can’t wait to see what this story entails.
