Splatoon 3 Salmond Run Next Wave

Splatoon 3 is on its way and the trailer may have just given the release date away. During the new Splatoon 3 trailer that featured a new Salmon Run “Next Wave” a QR code was presented that provided the potential release date of August 18th 2022. Nintendo announced at the end that it would arrive this summer which gives this date some credibility. Whether or not the game drops on August 18th this year it is confirmed that it will arrive during the summer in the next few months.

The trailer also had some new content revealed with an updated Salmon Run dubbed “Next Wave.” In this trailer two new bosses were presented, and we got to see the Inklings sport a new uniform. The entrance is also different where you now arrive from a helicopter rather than the boat from Splatoon 2. The ending of the trailer also showcased a new mysterious giant Godzilla-like Salmonoid we believe may be a boss related to the campaign.

The first boss showed in the trailer is the Salmonoid Fish Stick. This boss drops down from above drilling its foundation to the ground and has Salmonoids rotating in circles up top raining down Salmonoid ink. It’s very similar to the Inkling sprinkler sub weapon. Beating this boss requires you to ink a path to the top and shoot down the Salmonoids rotating around. Defeating the boss will reward you with three Salmonoid Eggs.

The second boss showcased in the trailer is the Boss Flipper-Flopper that has the appearance of a steampunk dolphin. The boss will fire a Salmonoid Ink circle in the air that drops landing around the player. The circle is then filled with Salmonoid ink. Players have a limited amount of time to fill the circle with their own ink before Flipper-Flopper dives down to defeat the player and submerge. Filling the circle will prevent the player from taking damage while preventing Flipper-Flopper from escaping. Defeating Flipper-Flopper awards players with 3 Salmonoid Eggs.

A new function has also been added to the updated Salmon Run that allows players to throw the Salmonoid Eggs to other players. They are also able to throw the Eggs into the container for points. This will make delivering Eggs much more convenient when the situation gets chaotic as these runs normally do. That’s all the information we have for now.
